We Bring Together Many Resources
The University of Kentucky Food Systems Innovation Center (FSIC) was created to assist processors, producers and entrepreneurs to maximize their market capabilities by having access to UK's technical and business expertise. We have combined resources from the Department of Animal and Food Sciences and the Department of Agricultural Economics with programs such as MarketReady, Kentucky Proud and Kentucky MarketMaker, and organizations such as the Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (KCARD) and the Kentucky Small Business Development Center to help you build your business and to follow government regulations that can be daunting when trying to get through them by yourself. The FSIC was launched thanks to funding from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board through the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy.
The people of FSIC work closely with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Kentucky Farm Bureau, farmers markets and cooperatives because we want to help you succeed with your efforts as small and large manufacturing firms and as farmers seeking to increase farm income by adding value to your crop production.
Success or failure often depends on how well issues beyond the 'what' are dealt with.
